Our chief instructor Sensei Keating has trained in the wado system since 1970 (Temple Karate Centre, Birmingham ), under Sensei's Sakagami, Takamizawa and P. Suzuki. Our clubs have nejoyed high level instruction through Sensei Keating's involvement with international instructors such as Sensei's Shiomitsu and Iwasaki, Sensei Doug James and Sensei Oliver Brunton. He retook all of his previously held Dan grades so as to get official recognition from Japanese Wadokai (JKF). In turn this opened the door for all Carlow Wadokai members to have their grades registered in Japan. Sensei Keating is known for his study and teaching of wado karate self defence and kata bunkai jutsu. Recently Sensei Keating registered Carlow Wadokai as a member of the WKAI (Wadokai Karate Association of Ireland). WKAI chief instructor Sensei Derek Desmond 5th Dan JKF will conduct regular courses and gradings at Carlow Wadokai. Sensei Keating is also a registered Fitness Consultant and Instructor (NCEF). . | |
