IAIN ABERNETHY was in fine form as he demonstrated and instructed the Fighting form of Nai Hanchi kata at the February Bunkai Jutsu seminar at Carlow Wadokai honbu dojo. The event was well attended by guest Karateka from Wado Ryu, Kyukoshinkai and Shotokan as well as the host club senior members. Iain took everyone through his unique training methods and partner drills bringing Nai Hanchi to back to it's original fighting form. Locks, Holds Strikes, Strangles and throws were all practiced as well as ground-work drills. Iain will again conduct a bunkai Justu training camp on September 5th 2010 at Baltinglass Wadokai Dojo. This event will cater for a larger group but pre-booking is advised if you wish to attend. This seminar is open to Karateka or Martial Artists of any style. Please contact Colin Keating for more info.

Congratulations were expressed to Sensei Colin from all dojo members at a presentation at Honbu dojo on Sat 19th June, to mark his 40 years of Wado training and instructing. A special plaque was presented to him from senior members. After recieving the award Sensei Colin stressed the point that he is still training hard and endeavouring to teach good technical and practical Wado and hoped that he could continue to do so for many more years. He reflected on how many great karate exponents training has brought him into contact with and the influence that many of them have had on his Karate training, also the many friends he has made through training. To be surrounded by many of his long time students, who have been training with him for over 20 years,is indeed a measure of the respect his students have for his dedication and years of study of realistic and practical Wado Ryu Karate
